During my last safari in Tadoba, I had an incredible encounter with a pack of Asiatic wild dogs, also known as dholes (Cuon alpinus). The morning started quietly—I caught a distant glimpse of a lone dhole through the trees, barely visible. But the afternoon brought a stroke of luck. It was a scorching summer day, and the entire pack came down to the lake to drink water. Just as we were passing by, they crossed right in front of our vehicle. It was a rare and beautiful moment—to see the whole pack together, so close. I was fortunate enough to take some photos and truly soak in the wild harmony of the forest.

Happy World Rainforest Day 2025! Behold Phallus indusiatus—known enchantingly as the basket stinkhorn, veiled lady, or bridal veil mushroom. This ethereal fungus emerges only when the rainforest floor, thick with fallen bamboo leaves, is soaked by generous raindrops. Fragile and fleeting, it lives for just about 48 hours, yet it makes its mark with breathtaking drama.

In this photograph, the mushroom is releasing its spores from the top of its cap, liquefying a sticky substance that lures insects to help carry its legacy through the forest. A marvel of evolution wrapped in delicate lace, designed not just to survive—but to captivate.
